Senior Communications Advisor – 2 x Full‑time Contracts until December 2026 – Two opportunities with a different focus Today the Royal College has over 55,000 members and the vision remains to advance the learning for specialist physicians to deliver the best health care for all. The Royal College partners and collaborates to lead the evolution of specialty medical education and standards; support specialist physicians learners and teams to continuously improve; and advocate for excellence in specialty medicine by supporting innovation, well‑being, equity and person‑centered care. We are a national nonprofit organization established in 1929 by a special Act of Parliament to oversee the medical education of specialists in Canada. Role #1 – Partnering with Internal Partners to Develop and Implement Communication Plans Reporting to the Manager Communications you will partner with Learning Strategy, Member Experience, and External Relations teams to work on the following key priorities: Support member services/Royal College Services Centre in the development of outgoing communications and member experience initiatives Lead communications planning, content creation and asset development to introduce new or enhanced Royal College programs or services Contribute to regular advocacy projects and activities to elevate the Royal College’s presence and voice on key issues affecting specialty physicians and the delivery of health care in Canada Provide advice, guidance and editorial support for bulk email communications (Customer Insights‑Journey, CiJ) Provide guidance in the introduction and implementation of new technologies across the College Advise, support and promote annual operational programs and initiatives such as global billing (dues), MOC year‑end reporting, deadline awards, grants, podcasts/videos series, Royal College‑created learning Role #2 – Maternity Leave Replacement (Issues Management / Conference Support) Reporting to the Manager Communications you will develop, manage and implement internal and external communication strategies to support the strategic goals and priorities of the Royal College as well as build and maintain relationships with clients and use audience insights to create and implement targeted impactful communication plans and deliverables. In addition, this role has a particular focus on issues management (for small‑ and large‑scale issues) and projects with significant issues management components; on crisis communications including support and maintenance of our crisis communications channels; and on media relations and outreach and media spokesperson support. It regularly advises leadership and internal clients on sensitive high‑risk communication issues to protect and maintain the Royal College’s corporate reputation. The person in the role will also provide communications support for one of our largest conferences.
