Data Management Consultant

The Data Management Consultant will drive the implementation of Data Quality Management practices to define, monitor and measure data against business expectations throughout its life cycle. The role will primarily work on projects, collaborating closely with other members of a small, high-performing team, partnering with Data Stewards and Owners, and working with other IT and business stakeholder groups as required to ensure the accuracy of business rules and evolve practices to effectively maintain the health of critical data assets. Responsibilities • Data Profiling – Develop and execute quality profiling rules and dashboards using different tools like IBM Cognos, SAP Data Services, SAP Information Steward, MS SQL, Power BI, Ataccama, SAS, Excel etc• Support Activities – Provide support when necessary for reporting, dashboard, and other data governance activities• Validation and Troubleshooting – Ensure that quality rules and lineage are accurately built using validation tools and understanding SAP and EDW tables, dimensional models, or documentation to further define rules.• Develop data quality reports from the EDW and/or SAP to validate rules and provide details of records with poor data, troubleshoot variances when results do not match• Execute tasks required to service the business from a data quality perspective• Provide data quality management expertise to business and IT on best practices• Develop data quality rules based on Data Steward direction utilizing existing technology• Facilitate the investigation into root cause of data quality issues by working with Stewardship and IT teams• Coordinate and lead the execution of tasks required to service the business from a data quality perspective• Deliver data management and governance reporting and metrics for tracking levels and progress• Develop and maintain Data Governance and Quality Dashboards within IBM Cognos, SAP Information Steward• Track the status and progress of data quality rule creation• Provide guidance to Stewards, users and business/IT stakeholders to help understand metrics, logic, and technical know-how• Contribute to the development of data quality management best practices, standards, guidelines and processes Requirements • 3+ years of related Data Management experience• Hands-on experience performing data quality checks on large volumes of data stored in relational databases.• 5+ years of SQL experience• Regulated financial services experience is preferred• SAP and IBM software experience an asset• Data systems/tools and related software for information profiling, quality and metadata management, ideally SAP suites, IBM Cognos or Ataccama• Strong understanding of data quality standards, policies, processes, and procedures• Knowledge of risk management practices and techniques• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills• Proven analytical and problem solving skills• Ability to function independently• Highly organized and extremely detail oriented with continuous attention to detail and the ability to understand highly technical conversations related to data tables, fields, formats, functions, variables, etc. quality• Experience with data management technology• Business and data requirements analysis and documentation• Working knowledge of implementing data quality dimensions This is a minimum 6 month contract position, with a possible extension located in downtown Toronto. #J-18808-Ljbffr
