Who You Are: A hands‑on software leader who enjoys building, mentoring, and guiding teams without micromanaging Comfortable making pragmatic technical decisions in a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment Confident communicating with both developers and non‑technical stakeholders Motivated by ownership, impact, and building products that solve meaningful problems Location: Guelph, Ontario (preferred) or remote within Ontario Vacancy Type: This role is a newly created position What You’ll Do (Your Superpowers): Lead and mentor a small team of developers, supporting growth, collaboration, and high‑quality delivery Remain hands‑on with backend development, primarily using Python to build and maintain API endpoints Contribute to architectural and technical decisions while keeping solutions practical and scalable Collaborate with leadership and product stakeholders to prioritize features and align development with business goals Support and guide frontend development built with Vue.js Work with cloud‑hosted infrastructure in Azure, including deployments to Azure Web Services Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and continuous improvement of development practices Help evolve development workflows within a modified Scrum/Kanban environment What We’re Looking For (Our Wishlist): 5-7+ years of professional software development experience; With prior experience leading or mentoring developers in a team environment Strong backend development experience with Python Experience with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling Exposure to Azure hosting and cloud‑based deployments Familiarity with Docker in development environments Experience working in startups or small, fast‑changing teams Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with business leaders What Makes This Role Exciting?
