As a Junior Security Technician, and under direct supervision, you will be responsible for installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Security projects which are typically small to medium projects that are often less complex. What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience” Respond to all types of customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after‑hours calls on a timely basis; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and debug a substantial variety of systems for complex problems. Use advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Commission projects as necessary. Identify and resolve problems for all types of service calls including emergency calls; analyze repair requirements and provide customer with appropriate solutions; complete necessary repairs and replacements as needed; exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May require originality and ingenuity in some situations. Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking. Provide technical support to end users and field labour when applicable. Transfer knowledge and expertise to other technicians. Act as mentor for less experienced staff. May supervise workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance. What You’ll Need Develop exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted. Develop technical skills and experience related to electronic security systems. Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions. Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.). Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required. Valid driver’s license required. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Basic organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Good computer skills including exposure to MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Requirements Minimum of one year of previous, relevant field experience preferred. Experience in the electronic and security industry preferred.
