Client: Government of Alberta Work Location: Main Floor 7000 - 113 ST, Edmonton, Alberta, CAN, T6H 5T6 (Remote) Estimated Start Date: 26/01/2026 Estimated End Date: 25/01/2027 Business Days: 250.00 Estimated Hours per Day: 7.25 Maximum Duration of Extension: 24 Months Project Overview The Province requires up to one (1) Digital Architect to work with 3D on service innovation, program review and digital transformation projects across the GoA. The Digital Architect(s) will work as part of cross‑functional program review or product delivery teams. These teams, led by GoA product owners and 3D, work collaboratively and collectively participate in a full range of activities including field research, backlog definition and refinement, and sprint planning and execution. Digital transformation projects review the current state of services, identify future opportunities, and deliver new services that are efficient, effective and affordable. A Digital Architect provides architectural expertise and strategic guidance and is responsible for overseeing the software architecture of digital services, ensuring alignment with a common architecture vision, and facilitating iterative delivery of solutions. In this role the Digital Architect will guide the team in rapid, iterative delivery of user‑centric services with solution designs that align to the overall architectural vision and support technical standards, coding standards, common tools and platforms. The team will balance capacity across user stories and technical tasks. The Digital Architect may perform development work if needed. The role requires strong technical understanding of current and emerging technologies, business acumen and project leadership skills. Scope of Services The Digital Architect will be required for a one‑year term, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months on the same terms and conditions. The role is full time (7.25 hours per day) across one to two projects. At the end of each term a maximum of 1,960 hours is expected, unless otherwise agreed. Services and deliverables evolve as the work progresses. Key Responsibilities Lead solution architecture of digital services by developing overall architectural plans, ensuring citizen‑centred design and an agile software approach. Uncover existing system context and provide recommendations and prototypes for technical discovery and feasibility. Provide and be accountable for solution designs that allow iterative implementation. Analyze impacts, exposure, and risk related to solution design. Guide the team in implementation, facilitating frequent delivery and ensuring target architecture is achieved. Determine the tactical approach to integrations, system boundaries and interactions. Identify opportunities to leverage common components and capabilities of other digital services. Encourage team contribution towards developing opportunities for shared service components. Provide guidance on detailed designs for implementation and review code changes. Contribute to code as needed to complete technical tasks and user stories. Coach and mentor the product team. Contribute to the architectural vision for a platform of user‑centric services, particularly around common components. Contribute to development of principles, metrics, and standards for service quality and delivery. Communicate software architecture information to technical and non‑technical audiences through appropriate materials. Actively participate in continuous improvement of the architecture practice. Work Arrangement The Digital Architect works primarily remotely, though may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in Alberta on reasonable notice. Travel and associated expenses are at no cost to the Province. The Contractor is responsible for providing all necessary equipment.
