Student, Accounting Analyst (Summer 2026) Join to apply for the Student, Accounting Analyst (Summer 2026) role at Sun Life Job Description Length of term: 4 months (May‑August 2026) Hybrid/Remote: This co‑op opportunity is voluntarily in person, remote or hybrid. You must work within the province; remote work outside the province is not an option. The Canadian & U.S. Internal Controls team, led by the Director, Financial Controls, oversees and consolidates all Canadian and U.S. Business Units (BU’s) for Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), standard accounting control functions, select risk and compliance activities and provides consulting on various financial control and risk matters. Reporting to the Manager, U.S. Financial Controls, the Accounting Analyst Co‑op assists BU’s to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act (SOX) and Canadian Investor Confidence rules. It offers exposure to multiple U.S. business areas ranging from Insurance Operations to Central Finance. Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Accounting or related discipline, with the intention to obtain a CPA designation. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio). Strong organizational skills and commitment to meeting reporting and control deadlines. Ability to work independently and support the team. Remote work capability; team members located in Canada and the U.S. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with direct contact across departments. Quick learning of new software applications; Workiva used for SOX testing/documentation. What will you do? Attend internal control walkthrough meetings with relevant individuals from each business unit and external auditors. Design, execute, and perform detailed testing of internal controls per audit standards and within deadlines. Evaluate controls, propose enhancements, and investigate weaknesses. Perform analysis and remediation testing around identified deficiencies. Assist the Manager, U.S. Financial Controls in ICFR deliverables to external auditors and ensure timely delivery. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay varies by the Campus program selected.
