Position Details Job Status: Full‑time PermanentDivision: Engineering & OperationsDepartment: Development and TransportationUnion: CUPE 3690Closing Date: January 18, 2026 Role Overview Under the direction of the Manager of Development & Transportation, the Drainage Superintendent is responsible for investigating drainage concerns, maintaining existing municipal drains, assisting the Drainage Engineer in preparing new reports, preparing tender documents, and overseeing construction and maintenance of municipal drains. Responsibilities Investigate drainage concerns and maintain existing municipal drains. Assist the Drainage Engineer in preparing new reports and tender documents. Oversee construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal drains. Review, inspect, and provide technical comments on subdivision plans, site plans, and grading certificates. Coordinate utility planning, permit issuance, and related agreements. Qualifications College diploma in Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology and a minimum of 2–3 years related experience. Valid Class G driver’s licence with an acceptable abstract. Class 1 Water Distribution Certificate considered an asset. Candidate Competencies Certification or completion of the OMAFRA Drainage Superintendent Course. Working knowledge of the Drainage Act. Experience in land development, drainage, design and construction. Field work inspection of municipal and private utility infrastructure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to conduct public meetings. Proficient computer skills. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with GPS and Total Station; topographical surveys an asset.
