Reporting to the Director of Engineering, we are looking for a Project/Packaging Engineer to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. As our new Project/Packaging Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative packaging solutions across our food manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and performance standards are met. Who you are You are a packaging or mechanical engineer with a strong foundation in food manufacturing and automation. You have hands‑on experience with form, fill & seal (FFS) equipment and an understanding of how packaging materials, processes, and machinery come together to deliver high‑quality, compliant products. You are comfortable balancing the technical and practical sides of engineering, designing solutions, troubleshooting equipment, and managing project timelines using tools like Excel and Gantt charts to stay organized and on track. How you will make an impact Design and develop: Implement innovative packaging solutions that meet protection, shelf‑life, and performance requirements. Configure and test FFS systems, select materials, and align solutions with safety, quality, and cost parameters. Lead and scale: Manage packaging projects from concept through commercialization, including trials, material validations, and performance testing, and ensure successful implementation on the production floor. Validate and optimize: Oversee trials, performance testing, and process validation to confirm seal integrity and shelf life; track project milestones in Excel and Gantt charts and identify continuous‑improvement opportunities. Support production: Provide technical support during commissioning, changeovers, and troubleshooting, leveraging packaging machinery knowledge and, ideally, programming or controls skills. Collaborate and communicate: Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and R&D, as well as external vendors, to align initiatives with operational priorities and regulatory standards. What you bring to the role The experience: Background in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering in a food manufacturing environment, familiar with FFS systems and high‑speed automated production. The technical knowledge: Understanding of packaging materials, line automation, process validation, and performance testing; proficiency in Excel and Gantt charts; commitment to HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards. The drive: Curious, hands‑on, solutions‑oriented; able to manage multiple projects, adapt to priorities, and focus on quality and results. The interpersonal skills: Professional communication and collaboration abilities, able to translate technical details into clear information and build trust with operators, engineers, and suppliers.
