ROLE AND FACILITY INFORMATION Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), a 273‑bed facility serving a population of nearly 250,000, is the primary referral centre for the Thompson‑Cariboo‑Shuswap Health Service Area. The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower, opened in 2022, houses advanced child and adolescent mental health services, a specialized mental health and substance‑use inpatient unit, and a 30‑bed general psychiatric unit (20 general beds, 10 high observation beds, 3 seclusion beds). RIH is a Level‑1 Trauma Centre handling over 250 major trauma cases and 72,000 Emergency Department visits annually. RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct psychiatric assessments and provide treatments for patients up to 18 years old, primarily admitted through the Emergency Department. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team—including psychiatrists, psychologists, pediatricians, and social workers—to design and refine clinical programs, policies, and procedures. Serve as the Most‑Responsible Physician for patient care during hospital stays, ensuring continuity of care and coordination with community providers. Mentor peers, medical undergraduates, postgraduate Family Practice residents, and UBC‑Okanagan Psychiatry participants, supporting educational excellence and leadership development. Engage in community outreach, providing key support for family physicians, pediatricians, and child & youth mental health services to strengthen the regional healthcare network. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Compensation Estimated total remuneration for a full‑time child and adolescent psychiatrist: $420,000 – $620,000. Components include fee‑for‑service payments, sessional contracts, and MOCAP level 2. Physician overhead: $0. Benefits and Incentives Vacation leave with flexible scheduling. Relocation funding: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 within Canada, $15,000 for international relocations. Other benefits and incentives will be finalized at the offer stage.
