The Opportunity As part of our continued growth, AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our treatment plants team. The candidate will work on municipal water/wastewater treatment, pump stations and related infrastructure projects in all phases from planning and feasibility to detailed design, construction, and commissioning. Responsibilities Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving project delivery, technical and client challenges; determine technical objectives and requirements; organize programs and projects; and develop standards and guides for technical activities. Work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design activities. Exercise judgement in developing details of work and selecting engineering alternatives. Develop engineering designs, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications. Complete technical calculations to support design decisions. Prepare technical reports and plans; prepare technical reports and analysis to support project assignments. Review quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy. Support the delivery of infrastructure to municipal water and wastewater clients. Provide construction administration and field services, including reviewing construction progress. Coordinate the work of a multi-discipline team of engineers. Pursue and deliver new water/wastewater projects with private and municipal clients. Actively engage in professional development and industry events. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Process) 6+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency in the municipal water/wastewater industry Familiarity with industry standards and strong working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment design and engineering Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of BC (or eligible to become registered within 12 months) Preferred Requirements 10+ years of progressive experience Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills Motivated, team player, independent, organized with strong business acumen Experience in consulting and project management concepts Proven ability to write winning proposals and obtain new work Good knowledge of industry standards and local municipal standards and guidelines Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient with Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint Willing to travel to active construction sites Class 5 BC Driver’s license in good standing Additional Information Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is CAD 109,000 to CAD 155,000 per year.
