The purpose of this role is to assist in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive National HSE management program based on the requirements of Northern Mat & Bridge LP (NMB), its partners, subsidiaries and clients. Provide support and guidance; recommend HSE initiatives, training, and the development or revision of safe working practices in line with provincial requirements for company personnel, operators, drivers, and supervisors. Complete thorough incident investigations, as outlined by NMB and our clients. Assist in the maintenance of administrative duties as required. Key Responsibilities To provide guidance, training and mentorship, to the operations group, manufacturing facilities, company personnel, union and non-union members in maintaining compliance with NMB policies, procedures, client, governing authorities and all laws. Key Area: Development and Execution Use Northern Mat & Bridge electronic inspection and observation forms in field, manufacturing, and administrative settings. Submit a daily worksite observation summary report. Travel to job sites as required, often on short notice. Update and review HSE Manual and Job Safety Analysis in conjunction with individual client requirements, as required and submit for approval. Advise Northern Mat & Bridge employees and subcontractors on matters regarding Northern Mat & Bridge, client requirements, OHS Policy and Legislation. Inspect employee and subcontractor training certifications and NMB/subcontractor equipment. Inspect HSE equipment, maintain HSE equipment, and restock employees as needed in the field, yards, facilities, mat plants, equipment, and vehicles. Make recommendations regarding regular inspections of all facilities, offices, yards, and shops. Conduct and assist in orientations, training, and employee coaching for completion, as required. Promote Northern Mat & Bridge HSE culture to employees, subcontractors, and clients. Ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner as per NMB HSE requirements. Assist in the preparation of the Northern Mat & Bridge internal and external audits, conduct Northern Mat & Bridge audits as required. Ensure all employees and subcontractors are aware of their HSE roles and responsibilities. Ensure all employees and subcontractors are aware of and follow client and Northern Mat & Bridge rules, policies and procedures. Create and distribute HSE related awareness document (toolbox talk) as required. Facilitate and/or participate in daily and weekly toolbox meetings and the risk mitigation process. Submit leading indicator reports as required. Conduct thorough incident investigations, act as an advisor to NMB supervisors or Mat Plant Leaders when conducting investigations. Be on call on a 24/7 scheduled rotation to respond to incidents and other urgent HSE related matters. Act as resource to matters related to HSE for operations, manufacturing, and administrative employees. Conduct client reporting as required. Assist Supervisors on site with such tasks including but not limited to vehicle/equipment spotting and traffic control. Submit monthly field activities summary. Other duties as assigned Job Requirements Complexity Maintaining relationships with all personnel to ensure close communication in a professional and courteous manner within Northern Mat & Bridge, and its various partnerships. Experience Requirements 2+ Years’ experience in a HSE Position is an asset. Experience in facilitation of training, development of training curriculum incident investigation. Bridge and Matting product knowledge a definite asset. Courses or seminars on supervision, safety, teaching, facilitation or management is an asset. Education Requirements Minimum NCSO, CRSP, GSC or equivalent or ability to obtain Other Skills & Abilities Strong computer skills, program development, people, leadership and team building capabilities. Able to maintain working relationships, communication and promote culture. The ability to operate a light duty vehicle during all four seasons within the established safe driving requirements of Northern Mat & Bridge. Be able to stay at external lodging to support travel, this includes weekends as required. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to scale heavy equipment during inspection, including removal of 20lbs fire extinguishers. Compensation Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
