Director, Network Operations + Engineering Our client is one of Canada’s leading transportation companies, known for its adaptability and innovation in providing unique solutions tailored to customers’ changing needs. The role of Director, Network Operations + Engineering is a mission‑critical position that will drive the design, optimisation, and future growth of the national transportation network and its infrastructure. Responsibilities Lead the strategic planning, design, and ongoing optimisation of national courier and parcel network infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational needs. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of network systems, including routing, transport, performance monitoring and capacity planning, to maximise efficiency and reliability. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics and forecasting models to drive continuous improvement and proactive network management. Act as an engineering partner for the business, translating operational requirements into scalable, resilient and future‑ready technical solutions. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Product, Client Services and Operations) to ensure seamless integration and support for network initiatives. Lead incident management, problem resolution and change management processes, ensuring robust operational frameworks and compliance with best practices. Drive the adoption of automation, analytics and new technologies to enhance network performance, scalability and security. Manage vendor relationships, budgets and service delivery metrics, ensuring cost‑effective and high‑quality network operations. Required Skills Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred. Minimum 5‑7 years of experience in network engineering, operations and/or logistics infrastructure. Proven ability to develop and manage KPIs, forecasting models and operational metrics for network performance. Strong leadership, team development and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and strategic planning capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Project management credentials (PMP) or other certifications are highly valued. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non‑technical audiences. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be a self‑starter with a strong voice, innovative ideas and a genuine desire to make things happen. This hybrid role requires 1‑2 days per week in the head office, work from home at a larger hub operation and the remainder supporting the national network through light inter‑provincial travel and quarterly intra‑provincial visits. The ideal talent will be a true engineering partner for the business, capable of driving metric development, forecasting and operational transformation while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
