About the Role We’re looking for a Legal Counsel or Senior Counsel to join our dynamic team Reporting to the Director, Legal Affairs for Insurance, Regulatory and Marketing (QC), the successful candidate will provide support on a broad range of insurance regulatory matters pertaining to our companies’ operations in the province of Quebec and more broadly in Canada. Your work will have a direct impact on our growth and all aspects of our insurance operations. People will count on you to provide quality legal advice and innovative business solutions on different matters related to the organisation’s products, services, and activities. Responsibilities Act as Legal Counsel or Senior Counsel on behalf of Intact Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries, primarily in insurance regulatory law including the development and distribution of insurance products, market conduct requirements, federal and provincial licensing, and marketing law. Provide legal guidance on day-to-day operational matters. Analyse, draft, and negotiate various service and distribution contracts. Ensure the integrity of the legal and regulatory aspects of the distribution of the financial products and services offered by IFC companies and ensure that the values of the organization are respected. Participate in a variety of national strategic projects in collaboration with the Director or Vice President of Legal Affairs, when appropriate. Qualifications Member of the Barreau du Québec in good standing. Relevant experience in other Canadian jurisdictions is an important asset. 3 to 7 years experience at a large law firm or large in-house department, in commercial, corporate and/or insurance law, preferably in a regulated industry. Superior technical legal skills. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. Confidence in managing files independently with minimal support. Comfort with technology tools, including good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Sound judgement and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risks and think strategically. Ability to proactively propose innovative business solutions. Ability to build relationships with business units and stakeholders and influence decision making at the operational and corporate level. Team player with ability to collaborate exceptionally well with others. Agility and ability to prioritize and manage many files and projects at once.
