Java Backend Developer - API, Microservices Location: Toronto – 4 days WFO. Salary Range: 80K to 100K per annum or equivalent contract rate. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Java back‑end applications using Spring framework, Spring Boot (2.x), Hibernate, REST APIs, MQ, and KAFKA. Implement enterprise‑level security concepts including SSO, SSL, APIGEE, encryption, authentication, and entitlements. Collaborate within an Agile development team, participating in continuous integration (Helios, Jenkins, GitHub, UrbanCode) and automated testing. Integrate web‑based application architectures and frameworks (including Angular) with back‑end services. Apply knowledge of system standards, methodologies, and middleware technologies; perform risk assessment, test design, and vulnerability handling. Essential Skills 8+ years of experience in Java, REST API Microservices, MQ, Spring framework, Spring Boot (2.x), JSON, Hibernate, SQL, Oracle, KAFKA. Strong experience in designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems. Proficiency in continuous integration tools and automated testing. Experience handling security vulnerabilities and enterprise security concepts. Desirable Skills Previous experience in a banking environment. Experience with Java API Management & Microservices; Angular 13+.
