Duties The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) Library is seeking a Teaching & Research Librarian at its headquarters in Ottawa. The primary responsibilities involve the following: Responds to legal research and reference questions. Participates in the development of library services communications and training materials. Conducts information sessions with various groups in the organization. This role requires on-site presence at least three days per week as per the Direction on Prescribed Presence in the Workplace from the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS). Located on the 12th floor of Place Bell in downtown Ottawa, the PPSC Library is part of the Prosecution Policy and Knowledge Integration directorate, which is responsible for developing prosecution policy, as well as managing knowledge transfers through the School for Prosecutors, the National Legal Research and Precedents SharePoint Site, and the National Library. The library is staffed by a small, dedicated team committed to supporting legal research and training within the organization. We provide services to both headquarters and regional offices across Canada. You need (essential for the job) Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following Education:- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master’s degree* in library science or in library and information science.* Students who will complete their master’s degree by May 31, 2026, will also be considered. Experience:- Recent* experience delivering client services as part of a library, information management or knowledge management team.- Experience conducting primary research using effective research strategies.- Experience developing and delivering training or presentations.* Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last 4 years. Applied / assessed at a later date Knowledge:- Knowledge of primary and secondary sources of legal research.- Knowledge of how to evaluate the accuracy and validity of research findings.
