Position: Safety Officer Permanent / Full-time Location: Edmonton based only - onsite Closing Date: Open until suitable candidate(s) selected Description We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Coordinator based out of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be accountable for overseeing and promoting a safe work environment at utility & industrial sites. This role involves implementing health and safety protocols, conducting regular inspections, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and promoting safety awareness among all site personnel. Position Description & deliverables: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of tools, equipment, PPE, and site conditions. Develop and modify existing HSE manual Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans. Identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate controls are implemented. Lead incident and accident investigations and generate detailed reports. Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel. Liaise with contractors, site supervisors, and engineers to ensure safety is integrated into work planning. Maintain and update safety documentation, including permits, MSDS, and safety data logs. Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations, electrical safety codes, and other relevant legislation. Participate in emergency response planning and drills. What you bring to the table: Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. Certification in construction safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent). Electrical safety knowledge (e.g., CSA Z462, NFPA 70E) is highly preferred. Knowledge on OSHA is an asset Minimum 2 years of experience in safety management within the electrical or construction industry. Familiarity with risk assessment tools and Job Hazard Analysis & Field Level Hazard Assessment. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Proficient in MS Office and safety management software. First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification (or regional equivalent).
