The Design and Commissioning Engineer will specialize in the design, installation, and commissioning of fire protection systems. This role involves creating cost-effective, compliant solutions that meet client needs while coordinating with various departments to ensure seamless project execution. Key Responsibilities System Design: Develop detailed designs for fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and standards. Specify components and materials that align with project scope and client requirements. Project Coordination: Collaborate with project management and commercial teams to integrate designs smoothly into overall project plans. Conduct site surveys to assess installation quality and functionality of fire protection systems. Commissioning: Oversee the commissioning process, ensuring systems are installed and function as designed. Perform tests and inspections to verify system performance and compliance. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Monitor project progress to identify and resolve design or installation issues, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. Ensure all designs and installations comply with industry regulations and company standards, including ISO and LPCB requirements. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including design revisions, calculations, and client communications. Provide regular progress reports to management and stakeholders. Team Development and Training: Mentor junior team members in fire protection design and commissioning principles and best practices. Lead internal training sessions on new fire protection technologies and standards. Required Qualifications & Experience Warrant in Electrical Engineering. Experience in designing and commissioning fire protection systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design software, with a strong aptitude for learning and adapting to new digital tools and technologies. Tech-savvy mindset, demonstrating comfort with modern software and digital platforms to streamline design and project processes. Thorough understanding of industry standards and fire safety regulations. Required Skills & Attributes Communication: Ability to empathize with stakeholders and actively listen to their concerns. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Basic verbal Maltese communication/understanding. Customer Focus: Commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs. Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to identify design and commissioning issues, analyze other M&E drawings, and develop practical solutions. Flexibility to adapt to changing project design requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Presentable and professional demeanor in all interactions, internally and externally.
