Manufacturing Full Time North York, ON $22 - $26 CAD per year

Superwake is an aerospace and defense company based in North York, focused on the design, manufacturing, and operation of advanced uncrewed aerial vehicles. Our work combines aerospace engineering and modern manufacturing to create reliable aircraft designed for a variety of applications.

Superwake is a small, fast-moving team where engineers and technicians work directly on complete aircraft systems, from early design and prototyping to testing and real-world operations.

About the Role

This role focuses on trimming and finishing cured composite components used in advanced uncrewed aircraft. You will work hands‑on with carbon fiber, fiberglass, and Kevlar parts, bringing them to their specified dimensions and preparing surfaces for painting.

You’ll work closely with our manufacturing and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to ensure components meet drawing, dimensional, and surface finish requirements. Your primary responsibilities will be trimming and surface preparation, with occasional support for composite layup and other manufacturing activities.

As part of a small, fast‑moving team, you’ll see how your work contributes to complete aircraft, from component manufacturing through final assembly and flight operations.

Responsibilities

  • Trim, drill, sand, and finish cured composite components to specified dimensions and tolerances using appropriate tools, fixtures, and trim guides.
  • Prepare composite surfaces for painting, including sanding, filling minor surface imperfections, and cleaning in accordance with work instructions.
  • Check dimensions and surface finish using appropriate measuring tools, and identify and report defects or damage.
  • Coordinate with QA to present parts for inspection, resolve identified issues, and complete approved rework.
  • Follow work instructions and applicable drawings, and accurately complete production and inspection documentation.
  • Support composite layup activities, including hand lamination and resin infusion, as required.
  • Follow safety procedures for composite dust, tools, and chemicals, including the use of required protective equipment and dust extraction.
  • Maintain tools and a clean, organized work area.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in composite trimming and finishing, surface preparation, or closely related manufacturing work.
  • Experience using tools such as drills, rotary tools, die grinders, and sanders for detailed trimming and finishing.
  • Strong attention to detail and the manual skills needed to produce consistent dimensions and surface finishes.
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools and follow detailed work instructions.
  • English communication skills sufficient to understand work and safety instructions, complete production records, and communicate with teammates.
  • Good documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with manufacturing and QA teams.
  • Ability to perform the physical tasks associated with the role, including standing for extended periods, performing detailed manual work, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Experience manufacturing aerospace components or working in a manufacturing environment with formal quality procedures.
  • Experience with composite layup, hand lamination, or resin infusion.
