Responsibilities Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates throughout the project lifecycle, including field engineering. Review, understand, and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design options and recommendations to meet those requirements. Lead and participate in site surveys of existing electrical systems. Lead and actively participate in, and document, meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants. Review tender submissions and quotations from contractors. Work with contractors to resolve onsite issues quickly and ensure conformance to design requirements. Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents, and perform required engineering calculations. Qualifications The candidate must hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada and have relevant experience in mining and mineral processing facilities, including the design and integration of E-Houses, medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) switchgear, and Motor Control Centers (MCCs). A minimum of 10 years of experience in power system design covering medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, protection and control schemes, grounding systems, and arc- flash mitigation strategies. Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, and AutoCAD Electrical is required. Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, substation equipment (apparatus, protection, and control), and distribution. Strong understanding of applicable standards and codes, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA and IEEE standards, and mining-specific safety and electrical regulations. Ability to apply these standards in hazardous or high-load operating conditions. Experience leading multidisciplinary coordination among electrical, mechanical, and automation teams, producing complete design packages with single-line diagrams, cable schedules, load lists, and equipment specifications.
