National Manager - Legal and Executive Search and Recruitment at Life After Law LIFE AFTER LAW is Canada’s national recruitment firm dedicated to placing lawyers in private practice, corporate counsel, quasi-legal, and executive roles. 25+ years developing lasting relationships with lawyers, law firms and companies Excellent opportunity for a lawyer with approximately 2-5 years of strong experience to work as a Legal Counsel at a public company on sophisticated commercial and transactional matters and join a dynamic and well established legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex commercial, transactional and strategic matters in a collaborative, innovative and thriving milieu. Responsibilities Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, such as: technology, intellectual property licensing, compliance, software, SaaS, cloud, professional services, consulting, leases, purchasing and distribution etc.; Advise re: commercial transactions, including strategic initiatives across multiple jurisdictions, provide guidance re: new product and service launches and procurement matters and collaborate with multiple business lines; Support transaction and integration matters re: acquisitions, divestures and reorganizations; Advise and support re: privacy considerations, IP and technology matters, security, compliance re: advertising and marketing materials, policies, and competition law, among other needs; Additional legal matters as required. Qualifications Called to the Bar of Ontario and be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario; Approximately 2-5 years of pertinent legal experience; Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising re: various commercial contracts and transactions; Understanding of intellectual property law and other technology legal matters; Knowledge re: information technology, procurement, privacy law, antispam compliance, including in commercial contracting, digital advertising and marketing, and policy development; Strong communication (oral and written), negotiation and drafting skills; Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities and attention to detail; Ability to work in a team dynamic and establish relationships across various organization levels; and Mergers and acquisitions and finance experience considered an asset This is indeed an outstanding opportunity to work as a Legal Counsel within a vibrant and well established legal department at a public company that offers collegiality, stimulating files and an attractive compensation scheme.
