Overview The IT Security and End User Technology department of WorkSafeBC is looking for one highly motivated, dynamic, innovative Co‑op student, Cybersecurity SOC Analyst to join our team to help us strive towards our vision. The department provides an exceptional technology experience for our organization by meeting end‑user expectations for technology education and support, offering best‑in‑class Cybersecurity, and ensuring transparent and accountable decision‑making through governance practices and policies. This is an eight‑month temporary opportunity starting in January 2026. How you’ll make a difference You’ll support innovations that benefit workers and employers across B.C. Where you’ll work At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position. What you’ll do Enhance and maintain threat detection queries in Azure Sentinel and Splunk to improve visibility and response across the environment. Support incident investigations and response efforts by documenting findings, coordinating remediation, and contributing to response playbooks. Assist in planning and executing tabletop exercises to strengthen the incident response plan and align technical and business continuity strategies. Monitor security events, analyze external threats, and help develop best practices and documentation to support security operations maturity. Is this a good fit for you? We’re looking for someone who can Monitor security tools and systems for potential threats, investigate incidents, and support remediation efforts across domains. Analyze and improve detection logic in Azure Sentinel and Splunk and contribute to incident response planning and documentation. Participate in research and evaluation of security tools and help align technical response with business continuity needs. Collaborate effectively with the team, think critically, and bring curiosity and enthusiasm to solving complex cybersecurity challenges. Participate in awareness programs to heighten security consciousness among users; makes information presentations regarding security issues as required Contribute to a positive work environment by collaborating and working effectively as a member of the team Think critically while also having fun working through complex problems Learn more: Hear from past co‑op students on what it’s like to work here. Your background and experience Currently a 3rd or 4th year student enrolled in a cybersecurity, computer science or related program Previous co‑op or relevant work experience in an office environment is preferred Microsoft 365 applications and Microsoft Azure experience is an asset Important to know Confirm you’re legally entitled to work in Canada Confirm you’re a registered student at a post‑secondary institution and is participating in a work integrated learning program Consent to criminal records check Who are we?
