Overview Field Service Technician - Vapor at John Zink This role supports the refining and petrochemical industries within the Vapor group. What You Will Do Travel to jobs sites from your home office to perform checkout, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning/startup of a wide variety of electrical and mechanical equipment for our manufactured equipment. Perform maintenance on equipment, including pumps, motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, combustion equipment, emission monitoring equipment, recorders, and programmable logic controllers (PLC). Commission, troubleshoot and alter different types of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Emerson, Wonderware), PID loop controllers, VFDs, HMIs, and other control devices. Modify technical documents and drawings (redlines) to reflect final field changes and corrections for commissioning of equipment. Travel extensively within all of Canada and potentially in the US. Minimum of 75% travel is expected. Be on call for customer service as needed. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Experience programming, calibrating, and configuring 4-20 mA loop devices. Experience modifying, diagnosing and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley, GE). Experience understanding and applying National Electrical Code (NEC) or Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). Experience reading and understanding P&ID diagrams, fabrication drawings, and electrical schematics. Able to travel over 75% of the time. Valid Canadian Driver’s License, able to drive a company vehicle and respond to customers when needed. Physical Requirements Able to lift up to 50 lb on occasion and 25 lb routinely; able to bend, stoop, crawl and maneuver around equipment and piping. Able to hear distinct sounds and see in color with both near and far vision. This work is in an outdoor environment and may include long workdays. What Will Put You Ahead Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix, RSLogix/RSLogix 500, GE RX3i, and other PLCs. 2-year technical degree or 4 years of military service in boilers-related work; field experience in petrochemical, power generation, renewable energy, pulp & paper, or food processing industries. Experience with Modicon and Siemens PLCs. Electrical journeyman license. Experience with industrial safety, OSHA, NFPA 70E, CCOHS and CSA B149.3. Experience working on motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, and PLC equipment. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.
