What you can expect from this position: Reporting to the Manager, Airport Planning this position is responsible for producing analytical reports for terminal, airside and/or groundside systems, identifying related capacity development options and implementing and maintaining simulation models for present and future demand profiles. The successful candidate is required to collaborate with other departments to ensure operational requirements are considered in simulation and planning projects. As an Analyst, Airport Planning, you will: Produce analytical outputs for all aspects of airport planning and operations. Provide research, insight and analysis, and propose solutions to potential service failures and bottlenecks. Identify options available for meeting demand and/or increasing capacity alongside service and facility requirements. Assess and declare capacity for specific groundside, terminal and airside infrastructure. Provide outputs on initiatives for future demand vs. capacity assessments for operational departments. Analyze high volumes of data and concisely summarize the outcomes. Develop programs to enable early identification of changes in demand on terminal, airside and groundside systems, and to permit assessment of the systems impact caused by these variations. Interpret and validate results of analysis, reach conclusions, and make recommendations relevant to the assessment being undertaken. Proactively liaise and collaborate across various departments to narrow and define project requests to support operational teams. Develop and update the simulation models to ensure they continue to reflect the complexity of the airport operation for existing and future demand. This unionized position is classified at the Band 8 level, with an hourly wage of $51.51, based on a 37.5 hour work week. A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process. What you need: Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation and/or airport planning/capacity planning. Minimum 1 year of experience with industry simulation software would be considered as an asset (i.e. CAST, ARCPort, SIMIO, VISSIM, Synchro or similar). Experience in airport process mapping would be considered as an asset. Experience in analyzing large data and the interpretation of data. Experience using and developing custom tools for ad-hoc analysis i.e. spreadsheet-based, VBA, Power BI, etc. Experience working in a customer‑centric environment. University degree in the field of airport planning/capacity planning, air transport management, aerospace or engineering (industrial, data or similar). Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance. Knowledge and skills you bring that set you up for success Knowledge of airport planning, capacity planning, airport operations and Key Performance Indicators. Effective communication skills via email, technical reports, meetings, working groups, and presentation. Ability to prepare professional and relevant presentations to support management in communicating key relevant study outcomes. Knowledge of survey techniques, statistical analysis and airport operations research. Knowledge of computerized data collection, editing, storage and analysis techniques (e.g. Power BI). Knowledge in the fields of airport simulation and data analysis. Able to handle complex studies involving statistical analysis. Knowledge of fundamental project management principles and methods. Knowledge of planning and modelling principles and methodologies. Knowledge in Microsoft Office tools, especially in working with large data in Microsoft Excel.
