The Opportunity As an Embedded Hardware Engineer , you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting electronic control systems used in real-world agricultural applications. This position offers the opportunity to work on both new IoT-enabled platforms and established legacy products , with meaningful ownership of hardware design from concept through production. This role is structured as contract-to-full-time , allowing both you and Phason to ensure a strong technical and cultural fit. For the right individual, this position has clear potential to grow into a senior technical ownership role as the team evolves. What You’ll Do Design and develop embedded electronic control systems and IoT-enabled hardware Create and maintain schematic designs and PCB layouts using PADS Perform circuit simulations, design verification, and hardware debugging Design and implement wired communication interfaces including RS232, RS485, CANbus, SPI, and I²C Select electronic components with a focus on reliability, availability, and cost Prototype, test, and validate PCB assemblies Work closely with firmware and software engineers to ensure seamless hardware integration Perform design verification testing (DVT) and support environmental and compliance testing Troubleshoot hardware issues from development, manufacturing, and the field Support production through BOM management, DFM/DFT reviews, and supplier collaboration Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for reliability, cost, and manufacturability What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of experience in electronic circuit design and PCB layout for embedded systems Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, and power electronics Experience designing and troubleshooting wired communication systems such as RS232, RS485, CANbus , and related industrial interfaces Proficiency with PADS for schematic capture and PCB layout (experience with other PCB tools is considered, but PADS experience is a strong asset) Hands‑on debugging experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters Familiarity with manufacturing processes, DFM/DFT, and production support Strong documentation, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team Nice-to-Haves Experience with IoT hardware and wireless technologies (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, Zigbee) Exposure to embedded Linux-based systems Familiarity with regulatory compliance (UL, CE, FCC, RoHS, EMC/EMI testing) Experience working in industrial, agricultural, or ruggedized product environments Interest in mentoring or growing into a broader technical ownership role Why Join Us?
