Reports to: Director, Merchandise Planning & Analysis About REBEL REBEL is the first and largest tech platform transforming retail's $1 trillion returns problem into a smarter, more sustainable model. As the only Certified B Corporation returns recommerce marketplace backed by top-tier investors, we’re leading the returns revolution—partnering with over 2,500 top brands to give shoppers unbeatable deals of up to 70% off on open-box products, while keeping millions of pounds of returns out of landfills every year. The Role We’re looking for a highly analytical, detail-oriented Senior Category Analyst to join our growing Planning team. This role requires the ability to leverage AI-driven insights, apply critical thinking, and execute hands‑on analysis to support sales trending, brand and category planning, and pricing optimization across REBEL’s dynamic marketplace. You’ll collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Merchandising, and Data teams to turn insights into action and deliver exceptional value to our customers and brand partners. Responsibilities Leverage AI and use critical thinking to assess KPI performance across all revenue streams, brands, and categories — analyzing sales, inventory, SSR, and margin trends to surface insights, identify risks and opportunities, and execute actions. Ensure insights are shared, understood, and leveraged to inform decisions around vendor opportunities, category mix, and inventory flow. Leverage reporting and critical thinking to evaluate vendor, brand, and style‑level performance — translating insights into buying, planning, and vendor strategies that drive growth and profitability Support the execution and communication of markdown and liquidation strategies, ensuring pricing and inventory actions align with business objectives and category performance goals. Oversee AI pricing to ensure alignment with sales trends, inventory levels, product demand, and competitive positioning, conducting daily pricing analysis and making strategic manual adjustments when necessary to maintain competitiveness, sell‑through, and margin health. Proactively identify risks, gaps, and opportunities within inbound flow, using data insights and operational awareness to highlight where delays or shortages could impact key brands or styles, and where prioritizing certain trucks or receipts could accelerate sales or recovery. Partner with warehouse and supply chain teams to action these insights in real time. Track and analyze weekly receipts actuals vs. plan, evaluating receipt yield performance, identifying variances, and surfacing potential risks or opportunities to help curate the appropriate mix of brands and categories. Partner with the Data team to evolve dashboards, templates, and automation tools that streamline how performance insights are surfaced, interpreted, and acted upon across the planning and buying teams. Communicate findings clearly and proactively, distilling complex data into concise insights and recommended actions for leadership and cross‑functional partners. What You Bring 2–4 years of experience in planning, merchandising analytics, or a similar role supporting commercial decision‑making in a retail or eCommerce environment. Comfort leveraging AI‑generated insights and automated reporting tools to enhance analysis and accelerate execution. Critical thinking skills — able to interpret data, identify root causes, and determine and execute the right actions. Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, LOOKUP formulas, basic modeling); familiarity with BI dashboards (Looker, Power BI, Tableau) is a plus. Exceptional organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced business. Clear and confident communicator who can distill complex information into concise, actionable takeaways. Collaborative team player with a willingness to support and guide junior associates where needed. Passion for product, retail, and sustainability, with curiosity for how technology and AI can shape better outcomes for customers and brand partners. Why You’ll Love Working at REBEL Purpose with impact: Join a Certified B Corporation solving the $1T returns crisis and helping consumers Shop Smarter® while keeping millions of pounds of product out of landfills.
