Toronto-based luxury residential interior design firm that is highly respected for the caliber of its work and the kindness of its environment is seeking a local Senior Designer with demonstrated luxury residential experience to join their firm.

The senior designer plays a critical role in the overall and day-to-day execution of our projects, while also undertaking some responsibilities in the leadership and operation of the firm. Reporting to the principals and/or design director, the senior designer is an essential point of contact for our clients, our sites, and the intermediate and junior level staff members in their charge. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Leadership:

Participates in general staff meetings.
Provide status reports to the principals and/or design director, as required.
Schedules and conducts regular meetings with intermediate and/or junior designers to review project status and scheduling, manage work loads, and assign tasks.
Promotes and instills positive morale for all staff members.
Maintains a high level of productivity and encourages the same from intermediate and junior staff members.
Serves as a mentor for intermediate and junior staff vis vis job knowledge, time management, organization, and professional development.
Encourages junior and intermediate staff to improve technical skills, product and industry knowledge, and interpersonal abilities.
Participates in industry related events, as required.

Design:

Advises, at the direction of the principals and/or design director, on design concepts and development, with drawing and sourcing, as required.
Schedules and leads regular project-specific meetings with intermediate and junior staff to address issues and assign tasks.
Prepares project budgets, as required.
Coordinates with all departments on all project-related issues.
Serves as the prime contact for clients, as required.
Develops project schedules and timelines, and monitor progress.
Leads or assists in the presentation of design concepts to the client, as required.
Monitors the quality and accuracy of production of all project details (including drawings, specifications, finishes, and furnishings) with the assistance of team members.
Attends site meetings and monitors all construction issues with the assistance of team members.
Coordinates and consults with all trades, supervisors, builders, and client representatives.
Keeps the principals and/or design director informed of project progress and ensures their participation at key milestones.
Leads or assists with project installations with the assistance of team members.
Monitors all deficiencies and ensures timely rectification with assistance of the appropriate team members.
MUST BE AUTOCAD PROFICIENT
