Core Purpose of Position The Business Systems Team Lead is responsible for ensuring timely support, monitoring and maintenance of all information technology business systems. The Business Systems Team Lead provides leadership and supervision to the Business Systems Team. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Team Lead will analyze the software application needs within the organization to identify and resolve recurring application issues and identify opportunities to enhance business operations. The Business Systems Team Lead will gather and document requirements, develop plans to implement new solutions and ensure the existing systems are properly maintained and supported. The individual will focus on collaborating with business and IT partners to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions throughout the organization. Major Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Supervise, schedule and manage the performance of employees assigned to the business systems team. Oversee the selection, implementation, enhancement and upgrades of business systems across the team. Ensure effective business analysis and standard procedures are developed for and used by the team. Assist with recruitment and selection of business system team employees. Develop and authorize individual work plans for the work group which align with the department Ensure direct reports comply with legislative acts, regulations as well as City policies & procedures Lead cross departmental project teams, as required, to ensure successful implementation of new business systems Acquisition & Deployment Define and map business requirements in consultation with decision makers, process owners, stakeholders and end users to optimize business operations. Serve as technical business applications expert providing guidance and support to IT team members and IT projects. Lead design sessions to prototype new systems and processes. Lead IT projects for new implementations, system enhancements and operational upgrades. Identify business system goals and develop solutions to meet them effectively. Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems and enhancements. Develop appropriate system and end user documentation. Deliver training for all modified and new systems. Strategy & Planning Analyze and recommend proposed and existing business systems to ensure they meet business needs and align with the City’s strategic goals. Identify potential trouble areas in business systems across the organization and recommend appropriate action. Implement strategies to evolve and further leverage existing business systems. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. Participate in the strategic advisory group that provides recommendations on IT prioritization and selection of projects and investments relevant to information technology. Support the Infrastructure Systems Team Lead in managing system integrations, coordinating cross-functional IT initiatives, and ensure seamless operations between application systems and underlying infrastructure. Operational Management Develop operational, installation, and upgrade procedures, to be used by other staff, including standard operating procedures. Lead the contract management lifecycle for business systems, including vendor performance monitoring, renewals, amendments, and terminations, in coordination with Procurement and Legal. Ensure proper procedures are followed to create and maintain all employee access of business applications. Support the Manager to track business systems capital and operating spending to ensure it is within budget and procured in accordance with City policies. Ensure all business systems are appropriately maintained and updated. Provide end user support to identify, diagnose and resolve system issues. Participate in shared on-call rotations for security managed services, EOC activations, and critical system failures. Support financial ERP systems including Microsoft SQL server environment. Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience) Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience. 5+ years’ experience in a related IT field in a corporate environment. Business planning and project management experience. Key Knowledge, Technical Skills and Abilities Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products. Extensive experience with core software applications, including financial ERP systems, Payroll, Work Management and Document Management systems. Demonstrated ability to analyze and create SQL queries and reports using Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), or other enterprise analytics and reporting tools. Knowledge of policies and procedures specific to the City of Prince Albert. Knowledge of current OH&S standards and regulations. Business analysis certification is preferred. Demonstrated project management skills. Financial ERP and SQL Server experience is preferred. Experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP is an asset. #J-18808-Ljbffr
