Senior Manager – Indirect Tax Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time, Immediate Hire Overview: This role manages GST/HST, QST, PST, luxury taxes, excise taxes, and other indirect taxes in Canada and sales/use tax in the US, focusing on strategic leadership and hands‑on execution. What The Job Is All About Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions and ensure timely submissions and payments. Maintain an accurate tax calendar and manage indirect tax registrations. Provide practical, business‑aligned advice on indirect tax implications of North America sales, digital services, product launches, intercompany arrangements, and supply chain design. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure tax‑compliant business operations and scalable solutions. Research and prepare technical positions for complex indirect tax matters. Draft written communications to stakeholders, including memoranda, opinion letters, and reports. Lead, mentor, and support branch accountants on indirect tax compliance and reporting. Present and train branch accountants on administrative and legislative updates. Support team growth, recruitment, onboarding, and training. Provide guidance to IT stakeholders regarding indirect tax settings and matrices. Drive automation of compliance processes, including data gathering, reconciliation, and return preparation. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness. Manage indirect tax audits and authority queries. Ensure documentation and data retention policies are met for audit readiness. Proactively identify and mitigate indirect tax risks through strong controls and oversight. What You Bring To The Role 7+ years of experience in indirect tax, with a mix of hands‑on compliance and strategic oversight. Canadian CPA designation. Highly self‑motivated with a strong desire to specialize in Indirect Tax. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills. Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to apply tax knowledge to business situations. Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities effectively. Strong Excel and data analysis skills; experience with automation tools is a plus. High level of drive, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
