Job Description The Assistant Superintendent supports site operations across Amico’s Design-Build projects, working closely with the Site Superintendent, Project Manager, and field teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with design intent. This role provides hands-on coordination, quality oversight, and real-time problem solving on a range of healthcare, commercial, and institutional design-build projects. Responsibilities Ensuring our projects run smoothly on time, and to the highest standards. Contributing towards the success of major infrastructure developments through effective leadership and organizational skills. Supporting on-site supervision of construction activities and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure project success. Assisting in coordinating daily on-site construction activities. Enforcing health and safety protocols in compliance with applicable regulations. Supervising subcontractors and ensuring their tasks are completed efficiently. Supporting scheduling, inspections, and reporting requirements. Communicating updates regularly to the Superintendent and Project Manager. Assisting with scheduling and the coordination of suppliers and sub-trades Assisting with scheduling and coordination of crews to sites. Completing and maintaining daily journals/site records. Monitoring tools and equipment on site for cost control. Documenting and preparing work documents for submission to the client. Reviewing and monitoring Amico and its Subcontractors’ deficiencies and required corrective actions. Qualifications Post-secondary degree or diploma from a Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management discipline preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant capacity. Working knowledge of contracts, industry practices and codes. Must possess strong organization and time management skills. Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision. Problem solving skills and troubleshooting knowledge. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe. Previous HCSS software experience is preferred. Previous scheduling experience is preferred. Working knowledge / understanding of surveying & site layouts, grades, etc. Experience supervising construction sites, ideally in infrastructure or civil works. Knowledgeable about OH&S standards, and site safety practices. The ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Proven organizational and time-management skills. Must be an effective communicator and team leader. The ability to successfully apply a mix of technical expertise, team coordination skills, and attention to detail. These contributions will help deliver projects that meet expectations.
