Director, Product Development & Oversight (Prime) – Automotive Finance (Toronto, ON) Director, Product Development & Oversight (Prime) leads and oversees the Product Development & Pricing for the indirect retail automotive business in Canada. The incumbent ensures existing and newly developed business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities Lead the team to identify new Prime business opportunities, developing and executing on optimizing product offers, pricing and positioning to continually improve market share and RoAC. Collaborate with Global Risk Management (GRM) on optimizing prime retail credit models to generate revenue opportunities, mitigate risk and meet or exceed return objectives for the Prime portfolio. Lead the team with a client‑centric approach, focusing on partnering with dealers and clients aligned with the unit’s value proposition, implementing and assessing the dealer network and segmenting market offers by dealer, based on meeting mutual objectives. Co‑draft Auto Finance Credit Risk Proposal (CRP) with GRM, review all GRM policy change recommendations, champion/challenger initiatives to provide business‑line insight, operational impact and executability of strategic initiatives. Govern and lead the team, driven by analytics, portfolio performance indicators, internal/external sources, established and regular business line/Sales team engagement, and regular completion of metric‑driven dealer reviews. Provide feedback and recommendations to Executive Management for new and/or modification to Prime programs, inclusive of special projects with supporting rationale, supporting non‑subvented and OEM partners programs. Collaborate with the Director Product Development and Pricing (Near Prime) on overall Automotive Strategies to meet the unit’s financial objectives. Operational Support – Research requests from Dealer Centre of Excellence, Retail Programs, Manufacturer Partnerships, Commercial Automotive, customers and other departments for changes to origination policies, products, programs and procedures, providing recommendations to the Vice‑President Product Development & Strategy. Maintain a high profile with internal and external contacts by building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners. Human Resource Management – Coach and develop direct reports to achieve superior levels of performance, innovation, client centricity and demonstrate Scotiabank values and behaviors; establish performance objectives and measures; lead the team to meet/exceed business objectives; recommend and gain approval for external training courses/seminars when appropriate; establish an inclusive environment, continually assess the organizational structure; monitor annual feedback from Pulse Survey and Dealer Satisfaction surveys to implement improvements. Ensure effective and efficient operations of team areas, ensure adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations regarding operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, conduct risk and related frameworks. Key Skills Expert knowledge of the automotive finance business (10+ years of experience). Undergraduate degree with emphasis in business/accounting/finance. Knowledge of banking operations, process flows and organization structure. Experience in pricing strategies for retail consumer automotive considered an asset. Strong MS Office proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity working with data/analytics and making data‑informed decisions. Relationship building, strategic/tactical planning, financial management, resource management, problem solving.
