Senior Telecom System Specialist

Job Description Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on telecommunication system and sub-system interface documentation, including radio, microwave, satellite, network, and telecom; Recommend telecommunication system level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to network system equipment and specifications; Liaise with DND and stakeholder telecommunication sub-system technical groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability; Analyze and integrate telecommunication network systems; Create planning and procurement support documentation, such as technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards, and SOWs for miscellaneous interface and facility ancillary items; Review, analyze, and provide recommendations relating to telecommunication network system components and associated documentation; Provide technical expertise in design, technical, and management reviews of telecommunication network systems to monitor, advise, and report on progress and potential problems; Conduct telecommunication system integration testing and evaluation; Analyze telecommunication system deficiencies and recommends cost effective solutions; Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on the suitability of industry telecommunication network system documentation; Conduct technical definition studies and options analysis on telecommunication network systems; Perform any other work related to this category. Qualifications Must have one of the following: An Engineering or Science degree from a recognized Canadian University or a non-Canadian Engineering or Science degree that must be accredited A diploma or certificate, minimum 2 years from a recognized college in an Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) field. Licensed as a Professional Engineer by any Professional Engineering self-regulatory bodies within the provinces of Canada. Minimum of 10 years experience as a Telecommunication System Specialist. Minimum of 5 years experience in writing Project Technical Documentation (e.g. Statement of Work, Statement of Requirements, technical specifications) for Telecommunications projects valued $5M or more. Minimum of 5 years experience performing engineering design, integration, test or analysis of RF communication design and development.
