Position Overview: As the Talent and Culture Business Partner at Cabot Cape Breton, you will act as a hands-on, department-facing leader who actively supports and administers all areas of Talent & Culture across the organization. This role works closely with each department to deliver day-to-day people’s support, ensure program consistency, and provide operational backup across all Talent & Culture functions. You will be responsible for evaluating workforce needs on an ongoing basis and for developing, administering, and overseeing talent management programs, recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, investigations, legal compliance, health and safety, payroll backup, and policy development. This position serves as a key support to the entire Talent & Culture Director team, providing leadership in internal talent and culture matters, engagement initiatives, and continuous improvement and talent development. Core Competencies Contribute to the planning and development of human resources goals, objectives, and systems Talent Management: Oversee the development of all talent management programs including workforce planning and forecasting, onboarding, performance management, compensation, job descriptions/job evaluation, succession planning, and training and development activities Budgeting: Assisting with developing, analyzing, and updating the company’s T&C and compensation budget Policy Development and Oversight: Assist development of all human resources related policies, programs and plans as they relate to company personnel, ensure legal compliance with applicable legislation, oversee effective application of policies, maintain and revise the company’s policy and procedure handbook as required Support the implementation (incl. launches) of all HR/T&C programs, activities, annual processes, such as Performance Management and Compensation annual processes, the Talent Review Process, the Recruitment Process, etc. Recruitment: Back-up Talent Manager on all recruitment efforts for all personnel, including job postings, advertising, interviews, reference checks and offers of employment Employee Relations: Take a lead role in creating a positive, collaborative team culture. Provide advice/counsel/mentoring to team members at all levels, investigate and resolve workplace issues to ensure positive and effective workplace relationships and dynamics and develop effective people management practices Health and Safety: Active participation in health and safety initiatives and oversight of the Company’s health and safety program, ensuring effective application of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, training programs, workplace inspections and accident investigations Disability Management: Administer and coordinate worker’s compensation claims, as well as return to work programs Works closely with management and team members to improve work relationships, maintain an engaged workforce and retain the best talent Employee Engagement: Manages team experience activities, monitor engagement and climate survey results, and put in place improvement plans actions where necessary.
