Director of Maintenance

Northwestern Ontario, Canada TEEMA Solutions Group Full time

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to step into a highly visible, enterprise-level role at an integrated pulp and paper mill where reliability, asset performance, and operational excellence directly drive business success. As Director of Maintenance, you will set the strategic direction for all maintenance disciplines and lead a transformation toward world-class reliability and proactive asset management. In this role, you will oversee mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, planning, and reliability functions, ensuring safe operations, maximum equipment uptime, and long-term asset sustainability. You will be empowered to modernize maintenance practices by implementing reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive and condition-based technologies, and lean manufacturing principles that deliver measurable improvements in cost, availability, and risk reduction.

You will play a central role in shaping the mill’s future by developing long-range asset management strategies that balance CAPEX constraints with aging equipment and obsolescence risks. Shutdown and outage excellence will be a core focus—owning scope development, critical path scheduling, contractor integration, and execution to ensure predictable, high-performance outcomes. Beyond systems and processes, this role is about leadership. You will build and mentor a strong team of maintenance leaders and skilled trades, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and successfully lead within a unionized environment.

Leveraging CMMS data, KPIs, and analytics, you will drive informed decision-making and sustained performance gains. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive maintenance leadership in heavy industrial manufacturing, a strong engineering or technical foundation, and a proven track record of improving reliability, uptime, and cost performance. If you thrive in complex operations and want to leave a lasting operational legacy, this role offers both challenge and opportunity.
