Senior System Analyst

Job Overview The position requires a senior technical expert capable of leading and providing strategic direction in the development, implementation, and maintenance of I&IT solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing complex technical projects, especially in the realm of cyber security and vulnerability remediation (CVE – Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). Additionally, the Senior Systems Analyst will provide leadership throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , from requirements gathering to post‑implementation support. Key Responsibilities Cyber Vulnerability Remediation Lead efforts in analysing, researching, and deploying solutions to address identified Cyber Vulnerabilities (CVE) across applications, operating systems, and middleware. Deploy patches, upgrades, bug fixes, and uninstall components as necessary to mitigate security threats. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve vulnerabilities and ensure the security of systems. Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Manage and lead technical projects throughout all phases of the SDLC, including planning , design , development , testing , and implementation . Develop and integrate systems solutions into client applications while ensuring efficiency and alignment with business objectives. Technical Leadership Provide expert technical advice and guidance to clients, particularly in relation to I&IT systems and security vulnerabilities. Coordinate with project teams to ensure that system solutions meet both business and technical requirements. Guide junior analysts in the development, implementation, and support of client applications. Client Engagement and Consultation Advise the Government of Ontario’s clients on effective strategies for utilizing IT solutions and applications to achieve program and service goals. Assist clients in identifying, analysing, and addressing security risks and vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Security and Risk Management Lead efforts to identify, remediate, and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities within the organization’s IT infrastructure. Ensure that systems adhere to appropriate security standards, particularly regarding CVE remediation . Project Management and Coordination Lead the scheduling, resourcing, and monitoring of technical projects, ensuring alignment with established timelines and budgets. Provide regular project status updates to management and stakeholders. Post‑Implementation Support Offer ongoing support following the deployment of systems solutions, troubleshooting issues and providing continuous improvements. Required Skills and Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems analysis, with a focus on cyber security and vulnerability remediation . Proven expertise in CVE remediation , including patch management, bug fixing, and addressing security vulnerabilities in applications and systems. Strong knowledge of various operating systems , middleware , and database systems . Demonstrated experience managing and leading projects through the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) , from requirements gathering to implementation. Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and design solutions that meet client needs. Expertise in working with multi‑dimensional and relational databases , including their design, development, and management. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Experience providing post‑implementation support , including troubleshooting and continuous improvement of system solutions. Knowledge of Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies. Experience with middleware , gateways , and GIS technologies . Familiarity with Information Management principles, policies, and practices. Ability to develop and maintain documentation following established methodologies .
