We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual to join the Town of Innisfil in the vacant role of Municipal Law Enforcement Officer In line with the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, and with a “Community First” approach, you will participate in ensuring compliance with Town by-laws and regulations and Provincial Acts. Working in a cross-functional and forward-thinking environment, and as a member of our Municipal Law Enforcement Department, you will be responsible for: Investigating inquiries and complaints and conducting proactive patrols regarding all Town by-laws and regulations, such as parking, clean communities, zoning, building maintenance, drainage, signs, and noise. Seeking compliance through negotiation and mediation and where compliance is not achieved, laying appropriate charges after carrying out a full investigation, collecting appropriate evidence including witness statements, in accordance with authorizing legislation. Responding to complaints and animal control inquiries including running at large, dangerous dogs and miscellaneous animal concerns. Liaising and maintaining a professional relationship between local animal search and rescue organizations and following up and reporting suspected animal cruelty to the appropriate Provincial authorities. Issuing offence notices under the Provincial Offences Act (e.g. part I and III offences), Administrative Monetary Penalties for parking offences, and conducting proactive enforcement patrols; issuing notices and orders when necessary; preparing related evidence for court, and crown prosecution briefs. Conducting Screening Reviews as required for parking-based infractions of the Administrative Penalty System (APS). Following up with defendants as necessary providing them assistance in the APS process and how to request a hearing. Dealing with all contacts in a courteous, friendly, and efficient manner to promote a high standard of customer service and public relations at all times. Keeping informed on relevant matters including legislation, regulations, practices, procedures, developments, trends, attends seminars, workshops, conferences, and courses as required. Job Requirements The preferred candidates hold: A Community College diploma or a graduate of Police College and/or successful completion of the training systems of the Ontario Police College or other recognized police training facility, the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association or a Community College in the field of law enforcement. Two (2) to three (3) years experience as a By-law Officer, preferably in a municipal environment. Certified as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer and Certified Property Standards Officer. Successful completion and maintenance of courses required to carry expandable batons. Successful completion of a recognized course in animal care and significant technical experience working directly with animals or the approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Required to be immunized against rabies and have a yearly titre to determine immunity level and if needed, receive booster vaccinations. Required to be a member in good standing of the Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Association and the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers. Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business and the ability to attend evening meetings or other events, as required. Requires mandatory participation in a rotating schedule, including nights, evenings, weekends, overtime, and statutory holidays. Mandatory participation in rotating on-call schedule to assist in after‑hour responses. Closing Date is February 1, 2026 .
