Overview AECOM is seeking a Regional Director - Fire Engineering. This consultancy-based role requires demonstrable experience in fire engineering across sectors in a client-focused environment. You will oversee and develop a team of fire engineers in the UK and provide specialized technical input across projects and portfolios. Responsibilities Lead and manage the team in workload, project delivery and performance. Oversee the delivery of large, complex projects, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and client expectations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and national leadership to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. Lead the Performance & Review process for the team by setting and monitoring SMART goals for team members. Carry out staff appraisals of direct reports and ensure they perform the same for their reports, in line with AECOM processes. Develop professional development plans for staff and encourage expansion of expertise in different sectors. Assist in training and mentoring staff to ensure technical development in line with PDPs. Provide specialised technical input to studies and design projects across the portfolio. Support and mentor less experienced staff toward Chartered status. Provide estimates for fire engineering budgets and schedules to meet requirements on large projects. Lead project delivery on mid to large-size projects nationally and internationally. Operate as an AECOM Approved Lead Verifier and, where applicable, an Approved Project Manager; lead strategic project directions and client relationships. Lead technical client relationships and play a major role in attracting new work and clients. Ensure work quality is maintained and delivered within agreed time and budget. Promote Health & Safety policies and maintain good client relationships; support growth of the Fire Engineering business; contribute to national KPIs and recruitment/marketing strategies. Qualifications Experience in working on fire engineering projects in the UK. Extensive experience in a large, multi-disciplinary environment. Comprehensive knowledge of UK guidance and standards (e.g., ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, BS 9992, HTM 05-02, BB100). Proficiency with fire engineering tools such as FDS, SFE, and evacuation modelling software. Membership in relevant professional institutions (e.g., MIFireE); NFPA CFPE or equivalent certifications. Preferred: CEng; MSc/PhD in a fire-related discipline; security clearance; international standards knowledge (IBC, SFPE, NFPA).
