Job Responsibilities Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work Develop and review specifications, including design criteria Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate or complex engineering problems. Should be able to demonstrate basic understanding of structural behavior and design principles. Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines Indicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering subjects such as design of large structural steel and concrete structures including heavy foundations, seismic engineering, and dynamic analysis of structures supporting vibrating equipment. Capable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction, in one or more of the following areas: performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures; analyzing complex structures; wind and seismic loading in structural calculations; dynamic analysis and design (structural); computer modeling and analysis (structural); procurement and construction aspects of engineering; vendor drawing review, intergroup review – squad checking; engineering and fabricator drawing checking Managing and leading a small project Basic Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Sixteen (16) years of experience as a Professional Structural Engineer working with Canadian and American design codes to complete designs of steel and/or concrete structures in the industrial sector. Minimum of 10 years experience in mining and metal projects Minimum 5 years of experience as Lead Engineer in a mining and Metal project Competent and proven record in technical leadership roles Discipline project execution related skills and experience Experience working in revamp projects is an asset Experience in interdisciplinary coordination Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors Driven to independently complete assigned tasks in a time-effective manner Other Job Requirements Preferred Qualifications Professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists, BC Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials Past record as Structural Lead engineer of a large Mining/Metals Projects Relevant practical field experience Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation program Work Schedule and Relocation Compressed work schedule: The Fluor Vancouver offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off. Relocation: This position is not eligible for company sponsored relocation assistance. Compensation and Benefits Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $151,500.00 - $300,500.00. The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; final salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.
