Engineering Manager – Embedded Linux As a technical engineering manager, you will redefine the embedded Linux experience with the smallest, most secure, and most reliable operating system in the IoT market. You will lead a distributed team of software developers to design and implement Ubuntu Core system software on various CPU architectures such as ARM, RISC‑V, and X86. Build and lead a distributed team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development. Contribute to engineering practices and deliver high‑quality software in an agile environment. Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders. Advocate for modern, agile development practices and a healthy, collaborative engineering culture. Collaborate with leadership to influence strategy and execution. What We’re Looking For Demonstrated competency in embedded software development. Strong skills in Golang, C++, and Shell scripting. Solid understanding of Linux and a modern GNU/Linux distribution (Debian or Ubuntu preferred). Track record of developing and managing teams. Ability to plan and execute high‑quality software delivery on time. Experience working in an agile development environment. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path. Excellent written and spoken English. Nice‑to‑Have Skills Familiarity with an immutable Linux distribution, preferably Ubuntu Core. Experience with multiple CPU architectures such as ARM and RISC‑V. Experience with Linux native containerization and security. What We Offer Distributed work environment with twice‑yearly in‑person team sprints.
