Our client, a manufacturing company located near Montreal, QC is looking for a Quality Specialist to join their team.

What you will do in this role:

  • Managing the approval, validation, and release program for raw materials / finished products from subcontractors, including inspection and evaluation upon receipt, verification and validation of analysis certificates, communication with suppliers or subcontractors if necessary, and releases based on the priorities of the involved departments (production, customer service, inventory, etc.).
  • Managing the program for managing the extension/expiration/destruction of raw materials including evaluation and validation in collaboration with the R&D department, drafting necessary reports, follow-up, and communication with the involved departments (production, planning, and inventory).Managing supplier and subcontractor complaints including communication with the quality representative of suppliers/subcontractors, complaint reports, follow-up on corrective action implementation, monthly follow-up reports, and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of existing systems such as extension, release, and evaluation systems for raw materials. Developing KPIs for measuring supplier and subcontractor performance and efficiency.
  • Participating in the Raw Material Evaluation program in close collaboration with the HACCP Coordinator including updating of raw materials used, ingredient risk management, supplier risk management, and providing appropriate literature to validate risks associated with raw materials used.
  • Supervising and guiding the quality team responsible for raw materials.
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of the implementation of HACCP hygiene and sanitation standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Participating in internal and external quality audits (CFIA, clients, Kosher, certifications, etc.) and providing support to the HACCP coordinator within their area of expertise.
  • Participating in employee training and developing specific training within their area of expertise.

What you will bring to the role:

  • DEC / BAC in Food Science and Technology / Food Science / Microbiology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with standards: HACCP, GMP, SQF, GFSI, Kosher, and Allergens.
  • Bilingual (French and English, spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.)
  • Organization and planning of work, structure, and rigor.
  • Leadership, autonomy, resourcefulness, and initiative.
  • Honesty and loyalty.
  • Project and priority management.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Quick execution and precision.
  • Problem-solving and effective solution-finding.
