Role and Objectives:

The PLC Controls Specialist, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, will be responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining programmable logic controllers (PLC) and control systems for a variety of automation processes. This role requires an in-depth understanding of PLC systems, electrical circuits, and industrial control equipment. You will work closely with leadership, technicians, and other team members to ensure the optimal performance of automated systems and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and implement PLC-based control systems for industrial automation.
  • Develop and modify control programs using PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, and control equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain PLC hardware and software systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to PLC control systems to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance manager and project teams to support the development of new automation systems.
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and commissioning of PLC-controlled processes.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including control system diagrams, wiring diagrams, and PLC code documentation.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on PLC programming, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Requirements:

  • Experience with advanced control systems and industrial networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
  • Familiarity with PLC simulation tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC programming and control system design.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, and Omron.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, including Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and other automation tools.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting, control circuits, and industrial sensors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and best practices is a plus.

Compensation Package:

  • Salary: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00
  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, Days & Afternoons
