We are hiring an Engineering Manager for Ceph & Distributed Storage. The goal is to make Ceph easy to install, manage and use—from large enterprise data centers to edge sites—while fostering a culture of quality and engineering excellence. As an engineering manager you will be technically strong, lead an effective team, and develop your colleagues. Technical leadership experience and a software‑engineering background are required. You will lead, challenge, and develop engineers, influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and shape strategy and execution while ensuring sound software architecture and best practices. What you’ll do Lead a team building a Ceph‑focused software‑defined storage solution Build and manage a globally distributed engineering team Coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to grow team members Contribute to engineering principles and team goals Set realistic schedules based on estimates and feedback loops Manage expectations with other teams and external stakeholders Advance modern, agile software development practices Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence Promote a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values Participate as an active member of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders Work from home with up to 20% global travel for events Who you are Software engineering background, preferably with Python and C++ Experience operating large‑scale storage clusters on Linux, preferably with Ceph Passion for new technologies and pushing boundaries A track record of developing and growing people Interest in building products that improve software and infrastructure operation Knowledgeable and passionate about software development Experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring developers to deliver timely, high‑quality software Solid experience in an agile development environment About Canonical Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
