Proof of ancestry will be requested; those selected for an interview will be asked related questions. Applicants are invited to self‑identify within their cover letter and/or resume.Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Operations & Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Patient Services, Indigenous Health will lead and assist with driving continued innovation and service excellence in patient services. This position is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of CancerCare Manitoba’s provincial clinical and Indigenous health services. The role will guide the application of an Indigenous lens to CCMB clinical services with an Indigenous patient, family, and community‑centred approach. Responsibilities include defining and implementing accessible and culturally safe care strategies, collaborating with clinical health leaders to incorporate Indigenous voices, and ensuring provision of quality traditional healing practices. The Director will provide Indigenous perspectives in the planning of the new state‑of‑the‑art CancerCare building and will oversee overall Indigenous operations including facility planning, patient management, and financial monitoring. While the role currently has no direct reports or clinical operations, it will evolve to provide system‑level leadership and stewardship of the Indigenous portfolio as it grows.The Director of Patient Services, Indigenous Health, guides the development and implementation of innovative, evidence‑informed service models to meet the needs of Manitobans. Qualifications Education Master’s Degree in Nursing, Indigenous Studies, Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration. Experience 7 years of progressive experience leading a broad spectrum of health services in a publicly funded health system. 5 years of experience liaising with Indigenous patients, families, communities, organisations, and partners. Experience working with Indigenous governments, partners, organisations and communities such as First Nations, Tribal Councils, Manitoba Inuit Association, Manitoba Métis Federation, and urban Indigenous associations. 5 years of management experience within the healthcare field. 3 years of management experience leading a clinical operations team within a unionised environment (desired). 3 years of experience implementing program planning, development and evaluation. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Skills And Abilities Experience or knowledge of Indigenous Services and Canada (ISC) and the relationship between ISC and Manitoba health care system. Understanding of Accreditation Canada (AC) and Health Standards Organisation (HSO) standards relevant to Indigenous peoples. Lived experience and understanding of Indigenous healthcare priorities, services, and challenges alongside Indigenous culture, protocols, traditions and values in Manitoba. Asset: ability to converse in an Indigenous language. Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts. Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Commitment to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (2019) and Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. Demonstrated knowledge of cultural safety and anti‑racism priorities within healthcare (Jordan’s Principle, Joyce’s Principle, Brian Sinclair Inquest). Experience working with Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) communities, agencies and organisations. Knowledge of regional/site/unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines relating to clinical care, administrative, financial and human resource management. Proficient in communication and collaboration, adept at building relationships with Indigenous patients, families, partners, organisations and communities. Proficiency with client referral systems, electronic patient records, charting systems, databases, language/interpretation on‑demand systems, Microsoft Office, and virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams. Expertise in designing key performance indicators (KPIs) and conducting benefits analyses. Strong organisational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Exceptional time‑management and ability to manage multiple requests. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant healthcare‑related management courses are an asset (change management, patient satisfaction, multidisciplinary teams, conflict resolution, quality improvement). Ability to negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Ability to lead people, manage change, develop strategy and execute plans. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including presentations to groups. Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations Active membership in good standing of an associated regulatory body (as appropriate). Membership in a professional association is preferred. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings and ability to lift and carry items. Regular response to executive and partner inquiries; dedicated planning time required. Valid Manitoba driver’s licence and personal vehicle for travel within the province. Other Must have a satisfactory employment record. Must be legally able to work in Canada. Asset: ability to speak French.
