Diesel Truck Technician/Mechanic III (Helper/Apprentice) Location: 80 Production Dr, Scarborough, ON M1H 2X8 Pay: $23-26 Shift Premiums: 2nd Shift ($3), 3rd Shift ($4), Weekend ($3) Position Summary Start your career as a truck technician in this entry‑level Diesel Technician III role, acting as a mechanic’s helper/apprentice. Perform minor component repair or replacement and assist with removal, replacement, and repair of major components under the direction of a lead technician or supervisor. Perform all aspects of preventive maintenance on vehicles as trained. Carry out mechanical repairs and replacements directed/assisted by Technician I, II, Lead Technician or Supervisor as part of training. Conduct all necessary customer service duties. Pick up and deliver vehicles. Maintain work area appearance and safety. Use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists). Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication. Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications 1‑2 years of practical experience with vehicle or truck repair preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/Technical or certification preferred. Must be currently enrolled in an apprentice program. Must maintain membership/registration with respective government agencies. Working knowledge of hand tools required. Current driver’s licence class G or class 5 and the ability to obtain class DZ within 6 months of hire required. Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems. Ability to work in non‑climate controlled conditions required. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function. Willingness to travel within the district (customers, training sites) and to work at the specific location required. Physical Requirements Regularly lift and/or move up to 12 kg, frequently to 23 kg, and occasionally to 45 kg. Required vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
