Oracle Database Administrator


  • Client : Enterprise Banking
  • Duration : 6 Month Rolling Contract
  • Location : Toronto – Hybrid


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage Oracle databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability and security.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Ensures strategic design, implementation, and documentation of current and future projects within Database environments.
  • Maintain technical/process documentation as required.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Ability to complete tasks and produce appropriate deliverables within project time schedules.
  • Identify and participate in automation opportunities.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems; enforce and support the change management process.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Over 7 years of experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) including performance tuning (DB system and SQL tuning)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience working as a Oracle Database Administrator (DBA). Working knowledge of Postgres is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience installing and, configuring, administering Oracle products and patches, including Oracle Standalone and RAC Databases 11g/12c/18c/19c, ASM, Oracle Clusterware, DataGuard, Active DataGuard and GoldenGate
  • Experience installing and administering Oracle databases on Linux (RHEL & OEL)
  • Solid experience in Linux, Linux Shell scripting.
  • Experience working with Oracle OEM Cloud Control,
  • Experience and knowledge of SQL queries and SQL Trace/Explain plans, SQL performance tuning. Setting Oracle parameters, and options.
  • Experience in resolving database/app SQL code performance issues from moderate to complex.
  • Strong Performance tuning experience with databases hosted on Oracle Exadata
  • Experience tuning and optimizing database queries, Oracle backup and recovery strategies.
  • Expertise in backup & recovery and migration using RMAN, Datapump.
  • Hands on experience with database security and database encryption
  • Expert level knowledge of user access management and database privileges
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and be able to participate in the knowledge transfer to other team members.
