Advanced Practice Clinic Leader (Pharmacy) – Pharmacy Services Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy Services, the full‑time, permanent Advanced Practice Clinical Leader – Pharmacy will standardize and optimize the clinical practice of pharmacists in order to deliver safe and evidence‑based care to inpatients and outpatients at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The APCL – Pharmacy provides leadership in ensuring pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are working to their full scopes of practice, guiding best practice changes to comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, and developing and adopting innovative practices. The APCL – Pharmacy uses their expertise to advance the pharmaceutical care provided by pharmacists and trainees through clinical supervision and teaching, and provides leadership to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure that all are working to their full scopes of practice. The APCL – Pharmacy provides guidance on clinical practice changes and develops innovative practices to comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards. The successful candidate will promote the highest quality pharmaceutical care by teaching and mentoring pharmacists, pharmacy students and residents, and through scholarly activity in affiliation with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. As a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, the APCL – Pharmacy represents Pharmacy Services when liaising with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. They share their clinical knowledge, skills and experience, and influence the improvement of medication therapy management through collaborative participation in departmental and organizational committees, subcommittees, working groups and more. As a Registered Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP), the APCL – Pharmacy abides by applicable provincial and federal legislation and regulations, and practices within the requirements of OCP, which includes OCP’s Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct, in their most current version. The APCL works to ensure that Clinical Pharmacists also work within the applicable legislative and regulatory frameworks. Key Accountabilities Advancing Clinical Care Practice (50%) Provide leadership and expertise in the provision of pharmaceutical care to optimize patient outcomes. Lead the development and implementation of CAMH‑wide and/or department specific policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve safe and evidence‑based medication practices. Support the continuing education and professional development of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and students, through scholarly activities. Enhance interprofessional and discipline specific professional development based on organizational needs, funding opportunities, Regulated Health Professions Act and other legislative changes, accreditation standards. Build the reputation of CAMH and in particular the Pharmacy Service as the leader in mental health and addictions. Teaching/Education (30%) Provide on‑site experiential training and mentorship to pharmacy residents and students (e.g., APPE, PharmD for Pharmacist students). Organize and participate in departmental education and professional development activities. Disseminate knowledge at local, regional, national and international levels to reduce stigma toward mental health and addiction. Advance the role of CAMH as a mental health and addictions practice leader, and the role of pharmacists in mental health and addictions treatment. Participate in continuous professional development activities (e.g., Opioid Dependence Treatment Core Course, TEACH Smoking Cessation Course). Engage in leadership or clinical development opportunities provided by CAMH or through external conference, workshop or other professional activities. Service (20%) Participate in pharmacy or medication related organizational and departmental committees and working groups, including but not limited to Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Medication Safety, and others upon request of the Director, Pharmacy Services. Participate in evaluation of staff and learners required. Job Requirements Entry to practice degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university Advanced clinical degree in pharmacy, research‑based MSc or Masters in a related field (e.g., MHA, MPH) is preferred. A hospital pharmacy residency is also considered an asset. Licensed as a pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (in Part A of the Register) Three (3) years in hospital pharmacy experience; experience in teaching and assessment is preferred Well‑developed critical appraisal, critical thinking skills and a detail‑oriented and analytical approach to work Demonstrate understanding of and experience in complex pharmacy environments (operational, clinical and administrative) utilizing an array of conceptual, analytical, problem‑solving and strategic skills Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy information systems and technologies Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to participate as an effective team member Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including patient counseling and presentation skill Self‑motivated and able to take initiative Sensitivity, skills and experience working with a diverse workforce and communities Ability to work both independently and within a dynamic team environment Skill in searching for, and evaluating drug information from an evidence‑based perspective to obtain and share vital information in a timely manner Capable of maintaining information systems and records in the fulfillment of duties Experience with Cerner system is preferred Compensation & Benefits Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $110,020.48 – $137,525.60 per year. Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $110,020.48– $165,030.72 per year.
