Job Title: Automation Engineer Job Description As an Automation Engineer, you will oversee the project management, design, support, and implementation of new and retrofit automated and robotic tooling. You will manage automation access control and maintain relationships with external vendors. Your role includes defining cutter designs and managing processes for automated drilling tooling, as well as supporting the development of automation certification and maintenance requirements. Responsibilities Administer automation access control and manage support contracts with external vendors. Define cutter design and cutter management processes for automated drilling tooling. Create and optimize laser shoot starting files and automate laser shooting processes. Support and perform aircraft virtual joint process and analyses for major structures. Set up, support, and improve inventory controls for automation equipment and spare parts. Provide technical support and project management for Key Characteristics and Critical Interface Points. Identify advanced manufacturing improvement opportunities and conduct new technology and automation studies. Develop and deliver training for automation, robots, and laser metrology. Manage performance metrics, project budgets, and KPI’s. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience as a Mechatronics or Controls Engineer. Experience within a manufacturing environment, specifically with Machine Design. Understanding of Laser Metrology, Automation, and Siemens control. Knowledge in automotive, aerospace, automated drilling, robotic assembly, engineering principles, and metrology principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Robotics Assembly. Automation experience within the automotive or aerospace industry. Familiarity with automated drilling processes. Work Environment As an Automation Engineer at the Pearson facility, you will work in a collaborative, hands‑on environment. You will interact closely with the tooling team and spend significant time on the shop floor, observing the impact of your automation solutions on production processes. You will be part of a team of three engineers, fostering a supportive dynamic that encourages knowledge sharing and problem‑solving. Reporting to the Robotics & Automation Lead, you will have guidance from an experienced leader while enjoying autonomy to innovate and implement solutions. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in fast‑paced, real‑world manufacturing environments. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North York, ON.
