Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real‑time, overseeing Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for the province’s future electricity needs. Overview This role is part of the Operations Readiness department in Markets & Reliability and is unionized. It plays a critical role within Operations and across the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) by integrating power system changes and managing key operations projects. The position provides project management and coordination to operations projects, with a focus on grid changes, and supports external organizations during the connection process. Responsibilities Provide project management and coordination to operations projects, emphasizing changes to the grid. Support external organizations through the connection process, coordinating with internal IESO teams to align connection activities with project milestones and regulatory requirements. Manage the overall authorization process for participation in IESO‑administered markets and programs. Lead the facility registration lifecycle, including registration, maintenance, and de‑registration of physical facilities. Review connection assessment documentation and market rules, develop registration requirements, and issue approval documentation. Represent Operations on IT change and release management items and maintain the registration system. Identify and mitigate business process risks, document process objectives, and implement improvements. Lead the planning and delivery of complex, cross‑functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and system reliability objectives. Drive risk escalation and issue resolution, facilitating cross‑functional alignment and sustaining momentum. Provide coordination, technical leadership and business systems expertise to internal and external customers regarding projects and system changes. Perform other duties as required. Typical Day Lead the planning and delivery of complex, cross‑functional initiatives impacting Operations. Manage structured project execution through clear governance, defined scope, proactive risk identification and mitigation. Guide and empower cross‑functional teams and advisors with direction and accountability. Champion effective stakeholder engagement, change management strategies, and communications. Enhance project management practices, tools, and frameworks within Operations Integration. Drive risk escalation and issue resolution to sustain momentum. Key Qualifications Academic training in business, commerce, information technology, or engineering. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of power system operation, market operation, and IESO market rules. Experience dealing with internal and external customers in a professional environment. Experience in project management, preferably with registration requirements. At least six years of relevant experience; up to ten years is preferred.
