Museum Summer Programs Leader (3) (SS.26.22) 1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants Position Description This position will provide leadership and will participate in planning, developing and implementing summer children's programs under the guidance of the Curator (and Assistant Curator), ensuring activities are safe and inclusive. Facilitate museum summer programs for children aged 5-10. Prepare and organize necessary program equipment, supplies and first aid supplies prior to and during programming. Keep attendance records; maintain accurate records and promptly report absences, issues or concerns to the Curator. Monitor participants' conduct; prioritize and ensure child's well‑being, safety and protection throughout programming. Communicate with parents and guardians providing program information and schedule information. Recruit and train youth volunteers to assist with summer children's program. Assist with customer service, special events, outreach activities, tours, exhibitions, collections management, gift shop sales and routine museum operations. Other duties as required. Requirements Currently enrolled or recently graduated in a college or university program in visual art/education program, history, museum and curatorial/gallery studies, library science or related field. Experience in a leadership capacity considered an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with the public and assist as required. Computer and general office skills; knowledge of MS Office, Past Perfect, Adobe Creative Suite an asset. Experience and skills in supporting staff including coaching, training development, conflict resolution and mentoring. Experience and aptitude working with children and youth. Excellent time management, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated research skills would be an asset. Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Standard First Aid with CPR Level C (if hired, must be obtained no later than first day of work). Ability to work in a team environment, follow verbal and written instructions, complete duties to an acceptable level of quantity and quality with minimal supervision, following all the Norfolk County Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. Note: Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays. Employment is conditional upon attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term. At time of application must be enrolled in a post‑secondary education institution or institution of higher learning. Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.
