Summary Reporting to the WorkBC Support Office Senior Manager and the Community Relationship Manager at Open Door Group, the Employer Relations Specialist works within WorkBC City Centre to build and maintain relationships with employers. The role focuses on identifying current and future employment opportunities for clients, providing marketing job placement services, pre‑screening clients and employers, facilitating quality job matches and referrals, and delivering placement‑related coaching and support to clients and employers. How You’ll Make a Difference Develop and implement employer engagement strategies to expand job opportunities for clients. Develop and maintain a network of resources and employers to ensure the availability of job leads for clients. Lead in‑person networking events such as job fairs, industry‑specific sessions, employer talks, mini‑conferences, and panel discussions. Conduct and deliver presentations to employers and employer groups in support of client marketing activities. Directly market clients with low skills and language levels, including youth and women with career gaps, to organizations to secure short‑term unpaid placements. Build and maintain positive relationships with prospective employers, resource persons, and other relevant stakeholders. Arrange placement of participants in job shadowing or work experience opportunities that improve their chances of securing jobs commensurate with their identified skills and experience; resolve placement problems and challenges in a supportive manner, facilitating positive changes for both parties. Work with program staff, as appropriate, to identify and pre‑screen suitable candidates for job postings, conduct necessary screening interviews and appropriate tests, and facilitate quality job matches and referrals. Conduct matches between the skill sets required by employers and the skill sets identified by the clients. Prepare and coach participants for job and/or work experience placement interviews with employers; prepare and match clients in the basic and essential streams with mentors. Assist clients facing significant barriers by directly marketing them to employers to secure paid placements. Maintain necessary records and prepare accurate and timely narrative/statistical data for program reporting purposes. Perform administrative functions to support marketing activities, such as preparing correspondence, reports, and records. Participate in creating marketing strategies and activities with the marketing team, such as planning and participating in outreach and recruitment activities (e.g., hiring events and career information workshops). Perform other related duties as assigned. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field and a minimum of one‑year professional experience in recruiting and/or talent acquisitions, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Job Developer certification is an asset. Fluency in English and a second language, along with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, are required. Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear provincial Criminal Record Check. Stay abreast of local labour market trends and issues, especially those related to immigrants and/or clients with skilled professionals. Access to reliable transportation and ability to commute between locations is required. ISSofBC Value Proposition Expected Hiring Range: $24.62- $27.09 (dependent on education, training, experience, and internal equity; wage grids are reviewed annually). 105 hours of vacation and 35 hours of personal leave.
