Location Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada Facility Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a no‑refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 62,000 visits per year. The new Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower at RIH opened in the summer of 2022. The tower includes a new operating room and surgical services suite, additional beds, obstetric services, labour and delivery, respiratory therapy services, mental health and substance use inpatient units, and a rooftop helipad. Kamloops offers high‑level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24‑hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services. Specialty services include Acute Inpatient Psychiatry, Tertiary Inpatient and Community Psychiatric Services, non‑interventional Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Gastroenterology and others. Support services include a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, CT scan, and Echocardiography. RIH also features TPA Stroke, Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. RIH is the regional base for the six‑person, 24‑hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) that is utilized in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Orthopedic Surgery and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage. Practice Details Scope of specialty: practice within the scope of our specialty; our nursery cares for babies 30‑weeks and up. Annual births: 1200‑1400 births per year, primarily in a consultative role. Supported by local OB Internal Medicine service and the Diabetes Education Program. Department supports UBC Physician Training at the MSIA Level, the FP Resident Level and the OB/GYN R4 Level. Opportunities to share existing office space within the community – please enquire. Compensation Clinical Service Contract. All hospital‑based obstetrics and unscheduled gynecology are paid through an APP contract above APSA rates, prorated for $6,117 per 24h with a typical call frequency of 1:8. Scheduled gynecology and office practice is paid through FFS, with a total combined annual estimated salary range of approximately $600,000. Potential to earn more based on productivity and individual practitioners split between hospital‑based and clinic‑based work. Physicians can work up to 1,800 hours per year for 1.0 FTE, or choose partial FTE and split between private practice. Benefits and Incentives Relocation Assistance: Applicable for 1.0 FTE positions, $9,000 – $15,000 based on move location (with eligible receipts). Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer. Start Date: as soon as feasible.
